Extreme Heat

Extreme-heat events on TerraPulse are organized into the heat Eventdex โ€” one slot per event, each a measured record of a heat or excessive-heat episode that actually happened, drawn from the confirmed storm-event record. No estimates, no forecasts.

Provenance

Every event traces to the NOAA NCEI Storm Events Database and the National Weather Service (NWS) โ€” the confirmed-event record compiled from NWS forecast offices and field reports. That source is registered against the dex, so any record on TerraPulse carries a direct line back to its originating storm report.

What's in a record

Each event slot carries:

  • Type โ€” heat or excessive heat
  • Location โ€” latitude, longitude, county, and state
  • Time โ€” begin and end time, UTC
  • Magnitude โ€” temperature and heat index where reported
  • Impact โ€” injuries, fatalities, and damage estimates
